LORD DANGER x GOMA
AOKI CITY / NEO TOKYO MTV-RAGE-422-1080-CLEAN h264 from GOMA on Vimeo.
Agency LORD DANGER hit GOMA up for ideas on Steve AOKI's NEON FUTURE. In charge of designing a futuristic world for one of the biggest EDM artists is more than an honor for us at GOMA. Below are some concepts that we worked on for NEON FUTURE. The video RAGE ( NEON FUTURE) features both Steve Aoki and Waka Flocka Flame. It was directed by Gille Klabin of LORD DANGER and we couldn't be happier working along side with him and his crew in tow.
This video had a number of problems from the get go. It was daunting task but we were up for the challenge. Much respect to the Lord Danger crew and the Director Gille Klabin. Goma had over 120 plus shots to do in basically a 2 week period. Being big fans of EDM and especially Steve Aoki, we did not want to let our clients down. We had started the drawing of the city a month out before the plates came through.
Our reference was Blade Runnerish and a sexy suped up Vegas. The original plan was to feature the city. As always, plans change and after seeing the shot sequence, Gille instructed us to have more emphasis on a more psychedelic approach and we were very pleased with the results.
Sebastian Brown our lead comp here, developed some nuke scripts that were tailored to Steve Aoki's Video. Aptly named, ChomoChaos, the custom glitch effect proved to be quite useful for the transitions from an organic landscape to a digital one. Below is some of the process of what went into NEON FUTURE. Enjoy!
